Super Tuesday Hiring Event

You are invited to participate in our Super Tuesday In-Person Hiring Event, scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month, from 9am-12pm. This In-Person event has only 10 slots available for employer participation and slots will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis after invitations are sent out each month. For job seeker registration, simply show up at the office location between 9am-12noon. Arrive early if you are not registered in the VWC system. You are encouraged to register in advance by going to https://www.vawc.virginia.gov. For employer registration, just RSVP to the invite message and provide a flyer that advertises the positions you are recruiting for to the event POC. Flyer will be used to help draw candidates that may be qualified for your open positions. Event set up is a little different from what you might be used to so here is a quick rundown on requirements and expectations: To participate, employers must be registered in the Virginia Workforce Connection Jobsite at www.vawc.virginia.gov, with jobs posted for positions you are recruiting for. Event starts at 9am. Employers should set up and ready to go by 8:55am. When you check in, you will be assigned to an office cubicle. Cubicle has limited space but there is enough room for two recruiters if you decide to bring an additional person. Due to the limited space, large banners, tablecloths, and trinkets are optional but encouraged. Banners can be setup in hallway outside the office glass doors. You are also encouraged to bring handouts and flyers to advertise your company and open positions. Seating is arranged for one-on-one interaction with job seekers. As job seekers arrive, they will sign-in to speak with each company they are interested in and will then take a seat in the lobby and wait to be called. The sign-in sheet has a column for job seekers to identify themselves if they are veterans. If the column is checked, they will be called ahead of previously signed- in candidates as a form of "Priority of Service" for eligible veteran and military spouse job seekers. Employers should periodically come to the lobby area and check their company’s sign-in sheet for candidates and escort them back to your cubicle one by one. Staff will also monitor the sign-in sheets and will notify you if someone is signed in and waiting. After you complete your interaction with a candidate, escort them back to the front office lobby, check the name off your list, and call the next candidate. Office staff will also assist with these actions. Event ends at 12pm but will remain open until you've had the opportunity to speak with all job seekers that signed up to meet with you.
