HOOS DRIVING HIRING EVENT @ UTS

UVA Transit Service (UTS) is seeking applications for the HOOS Driving Training Program, which provides paid on-the-job training as a FlexRide or Ride Driver with the University of Virginia’s Department of Parking and Transportation. UVA FlexRide Drivers provide transportation services to University community members who are unable to use fixed-route transportation services due to a disability. UVA Ride Drivers provide overnight fare-free shuttle service for University students and staff. Upon completion of training, employees will have been onboarded, completed safety and security training and basic computer skills instruction, and have the necessary workplace and customer service skills to serve as a FlexRide or Ride Driver. Those selected will be full-time, benefited employees with UVA beginning the first day of training.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent or 2+ years working in a professional setting.
Experience: At least 8 months of prior work experience.
Experience gained during part-time work as a student may be considered.
Licensure: Valid Virginia Driver’s License. Must have a -3 or above DMV point balance via a safe driving record.

Passenger Assistance, Safety & Sensitivity
OSHA 10 & Bloodborne Pathogens
HOOS Driving training will take place from Monday, July 13, 2026, to Friday, July 24, 2026. After training, employees will begin on-the-job training with UTS beginning Monday, July 27, 2026.
