Grant Shmelzer

Grant Shmelzer has been CEO of IEC Chesapeake and IEC Chesapeake Apprenticeship & Training for more than 30 years. Under his leadership the organization has grown from 20 company members and 20 apprentices to more than 220 company members and 1,300 apprentices.

Mr. Shmelzer has been a member of the Virginia Apprenticeship Council for several years and has been a member of the Maryland State Apprenticeship Council for almost 20 years. IEC Chesapeake has four training locations across the commonwealth. The organization has also recently launched pre-apprenticeship programs in partnership with K-12 systems.
