Dudley Harris

Chair

Dudley has been a member of the Virginia Apprenticeship Council since 2001. He was encouraged by trade organizations to join the Council since he saw a real need to help in marketing the value of registered apprenticeships as a viable and rewarding career path. After being involved in local, state and national apprenticeship committees, for over two decades, he has finally seen the respect and appreciation that registered apprenticeships deserve with parents and educators.

Dudley became involved with registered apprenticeships when managing his family-owned electrical contracting business for over 20 years, which merged with Bay Electric, Co., where he currently is Vice President of Special Projects. He also currently volunteers on the Hampton Roads Workforce Council-Executive Committee, Hampton Roads Workforce Council’s Foundation (501c), New Horizons Educational Foundation (501c) as Vice President, and Virginia Peninsula Community College Foundation (501c). Dudley holds a Master Electrician License and is a graduate of Christopher Newport University. In his spare time, he can be found restoring his 115-year-old farmhouse.
